Anson B. Nixon Park

Anson B. Nixon Park opened for passive recreation on June 12, 1993, with early support that included county and state open space funding and a lot of local volunteer effort. The park is owned and operated by the Kennett Area Park Authority (KAPA), with trustees appointed by the Borough of Kennett Square and Kennett Township.

Park size is commonly described as about 106–110 acres (you’ll see both figures depending on the source and boundary definitions).

Local trivia: the park surrounds the Kennett Square Reservoir, including two ponds, and the East Branch Red Clay Creek runs through the property—so it’s basically a nature-and-water “greatest hits” album.

• Walk or run the trails: the park reports about three miles of walking trails, with maps available at kiosks and online.
• Ponds and creek views: the reservoir ponds and creek corridor make it a strong spot for nature watching and photos.
