Old School Hip Hop Songs

Hip Hop Music - Old School

DJ Kool Herc is credited with inventing Hip Hop at a block party in 1974. All it took was two of the same vinyl record, and some skill at cutting between them. That summer, Lovebug Starski started this style of music and dancing "hip-hop". Kool Herc was one of the first victims of a violent death in this music culture, stabbed in 1977.
Hip Hop follows the beats. Rap is more about the song lyrics.
